The short version
The Indi Collective works with a national network of independent photographers and filmmakers, based in the regions we serve, matched to a wedding after booking based on style, availability, and location. Alongside that network sits a smaller, full-time internal team — production, post-production, and client experience — that supports every wedding regardless of which photographer or filmmaker is assigned.
That structure is what “collective” refers to: a company built around a network of working creative professionals from the start, rather than a single photographer’s studio that grew a name around one person.
Joining The Indi Collective’s creative network happens through a portfolio and style review. Photographers and filmmakers are evaluated on portfolio, technical consistency, and style fit before being approved to shoot for the company, and new creatives are typically brought in gradually — smaller or supporting roles before being trusted with a lead assignment on a wedding day.
Most photographers and filmmakers who shoot weddings for The Indi Collective are independent contractors, engaged per assignment under a written agreement — this is standard structure across the wedding photography industry, where very few companies of any size employ a full roster of photographers directly. Production, post-production, and client experience roles, by contrast, are staffed by a full-time internal team.
Regardless of engagement type, the client’s contract is with The Indi Collective, which holds responsibility for delivery, quality, and communication on every wedding.
Every photographer and filmmaker works under a written agreement, and payment is tied to defined milestones rather than left open-ended. The specific rate and payment terms in any creative’s agreement are confidential between The Indi Collective and that creative.
If you are a current or past collaborator with a question about your account, our team can be reached directly through the contact below.
Each creative has a dedicated internal point of contact for scheduling, logistics, and payment questions. That contact handles day-to-day questions from assignment through invoicing, which keeps response times consistent regardless of any one person’s schedule.
Every wedding a photographer or filmmaker shoots is edited by The Indi Collective’s own post-production team to one established editorial standard, rather than left to each creative’s personal edit — more on that on how your photographs and films are edited. On the day itself, photographers work from the planning information and timeline collected before the wedding, coordinated by the client experience team, so coverage is consistent regardless of which photographer is assigned.
If you’re a photographer or filmmaker interested in joining The Indi Collective’s creative network, or a past collaborator with a question about your account, reach out through our contact and FAQ page and our team will route it to the right person.
