At The Indi Collective, your lead photographer is matched to you after booking and photographs both your session and your wedding day. The same person for both. By the time the wedding arrives, you have already worked together.

When will you meet your photographer?
If your collection includes an engagement or portrait session, that is usually where the relationship begins. You spend a couple of hours together before the wedding, without a timeline, ceremony, guests, or reception waiting for you.
You learn how your photographer works. And they learn you.
Who relaxes first. Who laughs when they are nervous. Whether you love direction or need less of it. What feels natural between the two of you and what never will.
By the wedding day, none of that needs to be figured out. You can simply be there.
If your collection does not include a session, your full event team is formally introduced once your wedding questionnaire is complete. You will also have the option to schedule a phone or Zoom conversation beforehand if you would like one.
Who photographs your engagement session?
Your lead wedding photographer. We intentionally treat the session as the beginning of your wedding photography experience rather than a separate appointment with a separate photographer.
It gives you time together before the stakes are higher and the timeline is moving. Your photographer gets to see how the two of you interact when nobody is waiting for you to walk down an aisle. You get to experience their direction, pacing, and personality.
Then, months later, when they walk into the room on your wedding morning, you already know each other.
Who is there on the wedding day?
Your lead photographer anchors the team. Depending on the collection you choose, they may be joined by a second photographer, a filmmaker, or both.
Second photographers work alongside the lead with a shared approach to coverage, allowing us to photograph more of the day while keeping the finished gallery visually cohesive. When photography and film are both part of your collection, those teams coordinate before the wedding so the day never feels like two separate productions competing for the same moments.
It should feel effortless from your side. That is the point.
The Collective
The Indi Collective was built as a collective in 2016. Today, our weddings are photographed and filmed by regional teams across the West Coast, Midwest, and East Coast, supported by a wider network of photographers, filmmakers, editors, and production professionals.
The scale gives us depth. The regional structure keeps the experience personal.
You are matched within your region according to your wedding, your preferences, and the kind of work you are drawn to — rather than simply being assigned whoever happens to be available. Behind that photographer is an entire production structure designed to make sure the experience feels consistent from booking through final delivery.

How we choose your photographer
Every wedding begins with one lead photographer. After you book, we match you with the photographer in your region whose work, approach, and availability best fit what you have told us you want.
Because beautiful wedding photography is not one style.
Some couples want photographs that feel almost entirely observed — movement, glances, champagne being poured, someone laughing from across the room. Others want something more editorial: stronger direction, striking compositions, and portraits that feel considered without feeling overly posed. Most couples want some combination of both.
Our job is to understand that before your wedding day and put the right person behind the camera.
Who edits the photographs and films?
The people who photograph your wedding are supported by a dedicated post-production team. Every wedding is edited according to the visual direction of the photographer you booked, so your engagement photographs and wedding gallery feel like they belong to the same story.
Before anything reaches you, galleries and films move through our production and quality-control process for final review. The standards that review is held to are set and overseen at the executive level, which is why the bar does not move with the season or the volume.
The creative relationship stays personal. The infrastructure behind it is much bigger.
Who will you talk to throughout the process?
You will not spend the year wondering who to email.
Before the wedding, your client experience team handles planning, guides, questionnaires, timelines, and everything that comes up along the way. Your photographer and event team step into the center of the experience as the wedding approaches and, of course, on the wedding day itself. Afterward, our production team manages your gallery and film through editing and final delivery.
Everyone has a specific role so that the person photographing a wedding on Saturday is not also expected to be sitting behind a customer-service inbox on Tuesday. It is one team, with different people doing the work they do best.
What if something unexpected happens?
Wedding days involve real people, and occasionally real life intervenes.
If illness or an emergency makes a photographer unexpectedly unavailable, our regional structure gives us something independent photographers rarely have: depth. Your team manages the replacement and matches you with another experienced lead whose work is consistent with the style and experience you booked.
You will be communicated with directly, and the responsibility for solving it stays with us.

The Indi Collective is a wedding photography and filmmaking company founded in 2016. We photograph approximately 275 weddings and sessions each year through regional teams on the West Coast, in the Midwest, and on the East Coast, supported by a national creative and post-production network.
